The Archdiocese of Birmingham has asked Catholics to pray for the repose of the soul of Deacon Patrick Flanagan, who died on Tuesday 4th February 2025.

Deacon Patrick was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate in June 1999 and last year celebrated the silver jubilee of his ordination.

He served in the parish of Christ the King and Our Lady of Lourdes, Coventry and, despite being past the age of retirement, insisted on continuing to support the parish and its priests.

We are asked to pray for his wife Kathleen, his family, friends and parishioners and all who mourn him.

Funeral ArrangementsThe reception of Deacon Pat’s body will be at Christ the King and Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, Westhill Road, Coventry, at 6pm on Thursday 27 February.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday 28 February at 12noon. Bishop Timothy Menezes will preside.

A private committal attended by family will take place following the Mass.

Light refreshments will be served following the reception on Thursday. Mourners are also invited to join the family for refreshments in the parish centre after the Funeral Mass on Friday.
