How will you be spending this season of Lent? The Carmelite Friars of Chilswell Priory, Oxford would like to invite you to join them for their “Journey Towards Easter With the Psalms” online Lenten retreat.
Why with the psalms?
“The psalms have been for millennia the prayer of God’s people,” says Fr Alexander Ezechukwu OCD, Prior of Chilswell Priory.
“These words inspired by the Holy Spirit have a way of touching our hearts and bringing us into the divine presence in prayer.
“In a wonderful way, the psalms realise the Spirit’s prayer in us as St Paul reminds us in Romans 8:26-27,” says Fr Alex.
“The best part? The Psalms were the favourite prayers of Jesus! Even while on the cross, with his dying breath, he was praying the psalms! What courage the inspired words must’ve given him! How powerfully they must’ve confirmed him in the Father’s love!”
During the online sessions with the Carmelite team you will have the opportunity to reflect and pray with some of these psalms as well as texts from the Gospels, and enter more deeply into the mysteries of the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, and understand the promise they hold for us today.
If you are looking for a transformative experience this Lenten season, this is your personal invitation to join the Carmelite Friars of Chilswell and other travellers on this deep and meaningful journey …
