Abbot Paul Gunter OSB of Douai Abbey has just returned from several weeks in Australia, his first visit Down Under. Among his many activities, he led a residential workshop for the clergy of Melbourne archdiocese at Cape Schanke, with the archbishop of Melbourne and over 160 clergy in attendance.
He was also interviewed for the local Catholic media, which you can read
here.
Later he moved on to Sydney, which allowed him to visit the Benedictine nuns at Jamberoo, south of Sydney, a community founded in Sydney in colonial times under the Benedictine Archbishop Bede Polding. Last year the nuns of Jamberoo were affiliated to the English Benedictine Congregation, so Abbot Paul’s visit was an affirmation of the new relationship between Douai and Jamberoo.
