BBC1’s Songs of Praise is at Arundel Cathedral this Sunday 9 July at 11.30am. Katherine Jenkins joins Arundel Cathedral’s famous Corpus Christi Christi celebrations during the programme – which include a spectacular carpet of flowers and a procession from the cathedral to the castle.
Viewers will hear from the carpet of flowers designer about the symbols in this year’s display. Katherine also meets the Duke of Norfolk, who explains the legacy of his relative, the 15th Duke, who introduced the beautiful floral custom to Arundel over 140 years ago.
Bishop Richard explains the spiritual importance of Corpus Christi – which is a celebration of the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist – and Katherine meets some of those participating in the procession, including a child who has recently taken her first Holy Communion.
Later in the episode, Songs of Praise revisit the time Katherine met a gardener at Arundel Cathedral whose faith has been instrumental in her life and work, with music that celebrates the Eucharist and an a cappella performance from vocal harmony group Stellina at Blenheim Palace.
The programme will be available to watch at 11.30am and will be available afterwards on BBCiPlayer, you can find out more on the BBC website here.
