Stonyhurst is celebrating the outstanding achievements of its International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) pupils. Achieving an average score of 36 points, more than five points above the global average, the results reinforce Stonyhurst’s reputation for delivering outstanding academic outcomes. One in five pupils secured 40 points with 89% pupils surpassing the global average. The highest score was 44 points out of a possible 45.
These excellent results have opened doors to leading universities in the UK and overseas, with pupils progressing to destinations including the University of St Andrews, Durham University, University College London, and King’s College London, alongside many other top universities.
“In many ways, the IB Diploma exemplifies the best of Jesuit education: intellectual rigour, breadth of learning for holistic formation, and an orientation towards inquiry, reflection and global responsibility,” said William Doherty, Head of Stonyhurst.
“As such, it resonates strongly with our Jesuit tradition where we seek not simply academic success but the formation of the whole person who is activated to share their gifts with others in the service of a better world.
“In alignment with the Diploma’s aims, we strive to develop thoughtful and intellectually confident young people who have curious minds, generous hearts and a well-formed perspective to lead and serve in a complex, interconnected world. These are the qualities that sit at the heart of a Stonyhurst education. They are also at the heart of our graduating class.
“We congratulate our IB Diploma graduates on the high quality of their efforts and their achievements. We are not just proud of their results, but even more in who they are as young people.”
